How To Set Actions In Journey

Created by NotifyVisitors Team, Modified on Fri, 05 Aug 2022 at 07:10 AM by NotifyVisitors Team

Action is the second step when it comes to creating a journey. Actions allow you to engage users in their journey. Actions include options of different channels which can be sent to the users according to their interest and based on their reachability.

Once you have set the triggers to create a user's journey, it's time to engage them using Actions

For example - If you have entered the users in the journey based on the event performed by them. i.e., app installation, subscription, and add to the cart. What would be your next course of action? You would send them may be:

  • Web push

  • App push

  • EmailPush Notification

  • SMS

  • Whatsapp

  • Website Popup

  • Webhook

  • Add/Remove from the segment.

Let's see how each of the blocks works:

Configure Web Push Campaign In The Journey

Configure Web Push notification, as it allows you to engage users instantly.

For example- When the user installed the app and searched for a product without performing any action, you can engage him through web push notifications by offering him discounts on the products he browsed through or asking for his feedback on how his browsing experience was so that you can make changes and help him re-engage.

Steps to add Web push Campaign

1. Simply click on the block of the web push.

2. Create a new notification or choose from the existing one.

3Add a condition;

  • On click: As soon as the user clicks on the push, another action can be configured.

  • On view: As soon as he views the notification, their journey will continue from this branch.

  • On dismiss: As soon as the user dismisses the notification, his journey will continue from this branch.

If users fulfill any of these conditions( Click or view or dismiss) you can further add actions based on that. For instance, here the user has clicked on the notification, now you can engage him by sending an email.

Similarly you can set up an app push campaign for the campaign

Configure Email Campaign In The Journey

Choose this block to engage users through email campaigns as and when required in their journey.

For example: Suppose a user has viewed the page and added the product to the cart but abandoned it, maybe due to a long checkout process, or maybe the delivery charges are higher to deal with. You can engage him right away with a reminder email with a surprising offer that pulls him back to the cart.

Steps to add Email Campaign:

1. Click on the email block.

2. You have 2 options: either select an existing email or create a new email campaign. Fill in the details of the sender's name and address, or add the label.

3. Add conditions:

  • On click: As soon as the user clicks on the email, his journey begins through the branch.

  • On open: As soon as the user opens the view, his journey will begin through the following branch.

  • On reply: As soon as the user replies to the email, his journey will begin through the following branch.

If users fulfill any of these conditions( Click or Open) you can further add actions based on that. For instance, in this case, users have clicked on an email and you can engage them by sending app push notifications.

Configure SMS Campaign In the Journey

Choose this block to engage users with SMS or personalized text messages.

For example, suppose the user has viewed the product and has not performed any specific action. You can engage him via a personalized SMS by showing him the offers he can get on the said product. Click on the SMS block to begin a user journey by sending the user personalized text messages as soon as the user clicks on the text messages.

Configure Whatsapp Campaign In The Journey

The block enables you to reach the end goal of your journey by engaging users with Whatsapp campaigns.

For example -

Whatsapp can be used as an engagement channel; in any case, the user buys or searches the product from any channel- be it app or website. You can send promotional messages or engage users with great offers and discounts. Also, if a user has purchased the product, you can send him the link through which he can track the location of his purchased product.

Configure Website pop ups In The Journey

This block enables you to engage users with web pop ups.

For example - If a user subscribes to your services, you can engage him through promotional offers via web pop ups so that he could be aware of what offers you provide them.

Steps to add Pop-ups

  • Click on the web popup block.

  • Create a new popup or choose from the existing one.

  • Add the condition - Time duration. Set the time duration in days that allow the users to view the popup within that specific time duration.

Configure Webhook In The Journey

Webhooks let you collect real-time data from other applications and websites over the web. The websites that you need information from are hooked to a URL, which is set up in the application you are currently using.
For example; NotifyVisitors collected a lead and needs to send the data to the client, in this case using Webhook comes handy and helps in sharing data easily and quickly.

Step to add Webhooks

  • Drag and drop the webhook block, create a new webhook, or edit the existing one.

  •  If you create a new webhook campaign, assign a name to it. Then, add the webhook URL and content format.

Configure Add/Remove From Segments In The Journey

You can choose this block to add or remove users from any segment.

For example - If you have created a segment of "Add to cart but no purchase" to add the users who have only added the product to the cart, but later on that user purchases the product, you can remove the user from the segment and add the user in the "Purchase" segment.

Note: You can only perform this feature for the custom list segments. Read how to create a segment to learn more about the custom list segments.

Step to  add/remove the user in the segment

  • Select the event block and add the event "PURCHASE" along with the conditions.

Next, drag and drop the "add/remove from the segment" block and remove the user from the previous "add to cart but no purchase" segment.

Click on the SAVE button once you have performed the required actions.

Further, the users who will perform the PURCHASE event but were added in the ADD TO CART BUT NO PURCHASE segment will be removed from this segment.

This is how you can set different actions for different events. Also, check out the related articles.
