In an effort to elevate your advertising approach, NotifyVisitors has introduced seamless integration with Google Ads. This integration facilitates the synchronization of your NotifyVisitors segments with Google audience lists. With this powerful capability, you can strategically retarget existing customers, tap into similar audiences, and fine-tune advertising campaigns by excluding profiles based on specific criteria such as bad order history, events not performed, or poor RFM segments.
Google Ads harnesses your customer data to effectively reach and re-engage with your audience across various platforms, including Google Search, Shopping, Gmail, and YouTube. Leveraging the information your customers willingly share, Google Ads tailors advertisements not only to those specific customers but also to audiences resembling them. This integration marks a significant leap forward in precision and effectiveness within your advertising strategy.
Connecting your Google Ads account with NotifyVisitors:
Before you can synchronize your NotifyVisitors segments with Google Ads, it's essential to integrate your Google Ads account with NotifyVisitors. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Begin by navigating to the Settings section within your NotifyVisitors dashboard. Locate the Google Ads tab and click on the "Connect to Google Ads" button.
- Upon clicking, you will be redirected to the Google Accounts page, where you'll be prompted to select your Google account or log in to a new one. Choose the account that you prefer.
Note
Ensure that the Google account you log in with has direct admin permissions for the specific Google Ads account you intend to connect. Access via manager/MCC accounts is not supported.
- After selecting your admin account, another page will appear, seeking data sharing permissions. Click on "Allow" to establish the connection between your NotifyVisitors account and Google Ads.
- Once you've granted permission by clicking "Allow," your Google Ads account will be successfully connected to NotifyVisitors.
Now, we can proceed to the second step, which involves creating a Google Ads synchronization campaign, laying the foundation for targeted and impactful advertising initiatives.
Creating synchronization campaign for Google Ads retargeting
After successfully connecting your Google Ads account, you can initiate a retargeting campaign to synchronize your NotifyVisitors user base with your Google Ads audience list.
To start this process, navigate to the Campaigns section within the NotifyVisitors platform and select the "Retargeting Ads" option.
Proceed by clicking on "Create Campaign" and designate "Google Ads" as your preferred platform. Subsequently, you will be directed to a campaign editor page where you are required to input the following information.
1. Add recipients
Step 1: Enter the campaign name and, if desired, choose a label for categorization.
Step 2: In the "Target Segment" section, pick the NotifyVisitors created user segment you want to synchronize with your Google audience. To include multiple segments, click the “+” button and select additional segments based on different rules.
Examples of segment types:
- Segment contacts based on profile data (e.g., location, birthdate, or custom attributes).
- Segment contacts based on their engagement with emails (e.g., users who do not engage with email messages, prefer targeting them via Google ads).
- Segment contacts based on their purchase behavior, such as top RFM segments like champions and loyal users.
You can also exclude specific user segments from your Google advertising campaign (such as poor RFM segments like hibernating and about to sleep) by adding them to the "exclude users from these segments" section, ensuring they won't receive the ads.
Step 3: In the Google Audience section, choose your Ads account. If needed, create a new ad account through Google, and it will be available in the dropdown list.
Note
If the right account is not visible, confirm that you have admin permissions for that account and try again.
After selecting your Ads account, move to the next step and choose the desired audience list. To create a new list, input the name, and the dropdown menu will allow you to generate a new audience list with that name. This list can be viewed both in your Google account and NotifyVisitors.
Finally, click on "continue to review" to proceed.
2. Review page
This page allows you to verify essential campaign details, including the campaign name, label, selected audience segments, and the designated Google audience.
If all the information is accurate, proceed by clicking the "continue to Send/Schedule" button to move forward with either sending the campaign immediately or scheduling it for a later time.
3. Sending/Scheduling campaign
At this stage, you can opt for either a "One-time" or "Recurring" campaign.
› One-time schedule
For one-time scheduling, you have two choices: "schedule now" or "schedule later."
➦ Opting for "schedule now" initiates the campaign immediately, causing your audience to start syncing promptly.
➦ If you prefer to delay audience synchronization, choose the "schedule later" option.
Upon selecting "schedule later," you'll be presented with scheduling parameters. Specify the time zone, date, and time for the synchronization process. Once these choices are made, click on "schedule" to confirm your preferences.
› Recurring Google campaign
Now, let's explore the recurring Google campaign option, which enables the automatic synchronization of new users entering your segment with your Google audience list based on your specified dates and times.
Initially, you have the flexibility to set the campaign as either active or inactive. This feature proves handy when you need to temporarily pause a recurring campaign without recreating it. For instance, if your active recurring campaign needs a brief pause, simply click on the inactive button and then "update." This action will pause the campaign. When you're ready to resume, click on the active button and then "update" again to reactivate it.
To establish a Recurring Google Campaign, choose the "active" status option and input your time zone. Then, select a recurring schedule from the drop-down menu, such as monthly, weekly, or daily. Subsequently, pick the specific dates and times you want the campaign to run. Multiple dates and times can be added for more flexibility.
For example, choosing the monthly option with two different dates will result in the audience being synced twice a month on those specified dates. Similarly, opting for the daily option will sync audiences every day as per the specified time.
Additionally, you can define an end date for your recurring campaign. Once all selections are made, click "update," then "finish," and your campaign will be created for the chosen user segment.
Note
When utilizing the recurring campaigns feature, newly added users to your NotifyVisitors segment will automatically sync with your Google audience list whenever the campaign repeats. However, contacts already present on Google will not be removed from the audience list if they no longer meet the criteria in the NotifyVisitors segment and are subsequently removed from the segment.
Verify audience synchronization on Google Ads
NotifyVisitors synchronizes your segments in real-time; however, it's worth noting that Google Ads may take a few minutes to process the synchronization. To verify the synchronized audience on Google Ads, go to the "Tools and Settings" tab in your Google Ads manager. Subsequently, choose "Audience Manager," found under the "Shared Library" category.
Inside the Audience Manager, click on the specific audience list to which you've synced your NotifyVisitors audience. On the resulting page, you'll find the status of list upload.
Additionally, you have the option to evaluate the audience match rate, which represents the percentage of your overall users that meet the specified criteria for your list.
Note
Proper functionality of Google Ads integration is dependent on the eligibility of your Google Ads account for Customer Match. For further details, please refer to Google's Customer Match policy.
Google analytics
As outlined earlier, while the Audience Manager in Google Ads provides information on the total number of synced users, it doesn't reveal details about the users sent and how many were discarded. For a more comprehensive view of your campaign analytics, NotifyVisitors offers a dedicated Google campaign analytics option.
To access analytics, navigate to the "Campaign" section in the left panel and select "Retargeting Ads." Click on Google ads to view all the campaigns you've created. To check analytics for a specific campaign, click on the three-dotted button next to the campaign name and select "Analytics."
› Campaign info
In the "Campaign Info" tab, you'll find in-depth details about your campaign, including its name, label, audience, and Google audience. At the bottom of the page, you can also find scheduling specifics, such as distribution, scheduled date, and current status.
› Google stats
Moving on to the "Google Stats" tab, you can access information on total sent, total synced, and total discarded users.
Total sent: This option indicates the overall number of users to whom the campaign was sent.
Total synced: This option reveals the total number of users successfully synced out of the total sent.
Total discard: This option shows the total number of users discarded from the total sent.
Several factors can lead to users being discarded from the campaign, with the primary reasons being that their phone numbers and email addresses are unavailable, or their email addresses are flagged as bounced or invalid by NotifyVisitors.
Use cases
There are numerous ways to leverage this integration, and here are a few recommendations:
1. Retargeting existing profiles:
Create segments based on various factors to target existing profiles. For example, generate a segment of users who abandoned their cart or haven't made a purchase in a while. Subsequently, use Google Ads to target these specific user groups.
2. Exclude existing profiles:
Exclude certain profiles to ensure that these users are synchronized with your specified segments. This approach proves beneficial when excluding lower-profile or less-engaged users, or those falling into less favorable RFM segments.
3. Use existing profiles to create similar audiences:
Sync top RFM segments with Google Ads and then generate a similar audience in Google. This enables you to reach new leads that share characteristics with your best customers.
