Creating an engaging and user-friendly website often involves incorporating interactive elements that enhance user experience and drive conversions. One such element is the pop-up or signup form, which can be an effective tool for collecting user information, promoting special offers, or encouraging newsletter subscriptions.

However, the key to maximizing the benefits of pop-ups lies in their strategic deployment. This article will guide you through the process of displaying website pop-ups or signup forms on button click, ensuring that they are both unobtrusive and effective.

Enabling button click for website popups and signup forms

Displaying pop-ups or signup forms on button click is a straightforward process. First, log in to your NotifyVisitors dashboard and go to the onsite section.

Here, you can choose either website popups or signup forms. Both types of onsite campaigns can be set to appear on a button click. In this guide, we'll use website popups as an example, but the process is identical for signup forms.

To start, either create a new website popup or signup form, or edit an existing one by clicking the three-dot button next to your campaign and then select "Targeting rules."

If you've opted to create a new campaign, choose your preferred template or use the "create your own" option to build one from scratch.

This will take you to the drag-and-drop editor. Design your popup or signup form according to your needs. Once you're finished, go to the "Targeting Rules" tab.

In this tab, select the first option, "Display triggers," where you'll find an option labeled "Show notification on click." By default, this option is disabled; choose "Yes" to enable your onsite campaign to be displayed on button click.

Once you select “Yes,” you'll see a dropdown menu and a field.

In the dropdown menu, choose from the following options:

Select the “Button ID” option and enter your button ID in the provided field.

If the Button ID is unavailable, you can select XPath or CSS selector. To obtain this value, go to the page where you want to display your form or popup, right-click on the button or element that will trigger the popup or signup form, and select "Inspect." In the inspect window, right-click on the selected field, hover over "Copy," and choose either the CSS selector or XPath value.

This example uses Chrome browser; the process may vary slightly with other browsers.

Enter the copied XPath or CSS selector value in the provided field, depending on the option you selected from the dropdown menu. After entering the value, click the “Update” button.

Lastly, we also need to define the page URL where pop-up/form is used. To do this, select the “Configure Page URLs” option and click on “Create Page URL” button. Enter the URL of the page where you intend to display your popup or signup form. Once done, click on the “Update” button.

That covers all the necessary steps. If you wish to add more targeting rules, you can do so. Once finished, click on "Save and Continue" and activate your popup.

Lastly, visit the URL where you added your popup or signup form, and click on the designated button or element to ensure that your pop-up/form displays correctly when clicked.

Incorporating website pop-ups and signup forms can greatly improve user interaction and streamline lead generation on your site. And adding a button click option can further enhance their effectiveness. If you're limited on space on your website/landing page or prefer not to show a full form or popup, you can opt for a simple button that users can click on to sign up or explore your promotions. It's a smart way to improve how your website works and reach your marketing goals.
